The skincare industry has a lot of noise, and a lot of hype. These days, it seems like almost every celebrity and their dog have launched their own skincare brand. Everywhere you look, brands (and the influencers they pay) are shouting at you to buy their face creams. It can be confusing. Distracting. Overwhelming. 

What if you asked those in the know. What if you asked a team of PhD-qualified skincare scientists and molecular biologists, with decades of experience, to formulate their 'ideal' range of skincare products for optimal skin health, what would they make?

In a nutshell, that is our "Why": our purpose is to offer high-quality skincare products directly from the scientist to the end-user: science-backed formulations that actually work. No noise. No hype. These are the formulations that those 'in the know' use on themselves, on their grandmas, and even on their babies. Because they know it is safe, and effective.

We are a team of highly experienced formulation scientists and biologists specialising in skin health. In our day jobs, we develop all kinds of formulations for other cosmetic and pharmaceutical companies. However, for many years, we have been making our own ‘ideal’ formulations in our lab and using them on ourselves and our families to maintain healthy skin.

With our brand, Sanno Healthcare, we have launched some of our very best formulations, because they are just too good to keep to ourselves!

Why we started

It is said that necessity is the mother of invention.

We launched our brand, Sanno Healthcare, during the early stages of the global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Our team developed a Hand Sanitiser and a Surface Sanitising Spray, that were confirmed in independent tests as being able to kill >99.9% germs (including bacteria and viruses). Importantly, after observing many school children with dry, cracked hands, we formulated our Hand Sanitiser and Hand Wash products to be effective without drying or irritating the delicate skin of the hands. We supplied our products to many local community clinics and schools, receiving excellent reviews, and requests for more.

 

Expanding on the hand care theme, we launched our moisturising Hand Cream to help maintain healthy and nourished skin of the hands. All of our products have been formulated with carefully selected natural ‘superhero’ ingredients to provide effective skincare whilst minimising the potential for irritation.

Our other new products include our Foot Gel, boosted with richly hydrating natural ingredients and over 20% Urea, for rapid restoration of dry, cracked heels. Our Foot Gel has received many 5 star reviews because it works so quickly and results in such smooth skin of the feet.

We have in excess of 40 other skincare products that we have developed and that we know are fabulous because we have been testing them on ourselves (some of these for well over 15 years!). We are excited about these products, and we think you will be too. We are almost ready to share them with the world. Watch this space and stay in the know!

Our approach to healthy skin

Our approach to every formulation is to develop innovative, high quality, safe and effective products based on scientific research, with a simple purpose:

To not only provide effective care to the skin, but to also support the skin to maintain itself in a state of optimal health from within.

Our name

Our brand name reflects our focus on skin health and science. Sanno comes from the Latin word for health: sanus/sano, evoking a phrase attributed to the Roman poet Juvenal: ‘mens sana in corpore sano,’ meaning ‘a healthy mind in a healthy body.’ This resonates with us because it emphasises the importance of a healthy mind and body to one’s overall wellbeing.

Sanno also translates as ‘they know' in Italian, which builds upon our approach to formulating products based on sound scientific knowledge. As PhD scientists, our knowledge and experience keeps us ‘in the know’ in regards to the compatibility of ingredients with our skin, and this is something we wish to share with you.

Finally, our name Sanno is also a reference to the product that launched our entire range: our Hand Sanitiser.
